Self Care at Home

One of my goals for this year is to spend more time on Self Care. Self Care doesn’t mean the same thing for everyone. For me it’s about both my mind and my body. I believe that if you nourish and take care of your body it is half the battle for your mind. When I think of Self Care these are the things that I think about

  • nutrition
  • physical exercise
  • meditation
  • and giving myself time out

The first one is Nutrition. I want to nourish my body with the best possible nutrition. I do follow clean eating already I just have to work on eating a more balanced diet. I love fruit and probably eat more than I should so I would like to eat more veggies instead. I love treats. Even though I make most my self I still shouldn’t eat as much as I do. So finding balance is important to work on for my self when it comes to food and nutrition. It’s ok to have treats but they should only be a treat. I believe that if you properly nourish your body it will be easier to do all the other things.

Tips on improving my Nutrition

  • Get back in to cooking more. I cook a lot and these last few months I have found myself not wanting to cook or cooking the same old boring food. Meal planning and looking up some fun tasty healthy recipes is what I am focusing on. I bought a new meal planner, pulled out my recipe books and checked out Pinterest. The meal planner was so inexpensive but it’s little things like that that inspire me to do better. Sometimes it’s a new appliance or someones post on Instagram. I say whatever works.
  • I also like to log all the food I am eating. This happens to be a hard one for me and I don’t always remember to do it. I use an app through Beachbody to track my food and also have a fitness journal that I use to write everything in. I love paper journals so that is why. If you don’t care for things like that an app would be great.
  • Find like minded people to follow on instagram, facebook, youtube or any other social media that we are so obsessed with. Might as well work for us. I find accounts like that to be very inspiring and motivating.

Physical Exercise.

This is one area that I excel in. I love my workout program that I have. I use Beachbody (if you want more info message me). It is much cheaper than the gym and it provides me with everything I need. From vigorous exercises to yoga and meditation and everything in between. The best part about it is I do it from home. I don’t have to worry if I washed my face or wore clean clothes. I just roll out of bed and a minute later I am at my home gym. I have a blog post on my home gym and you can read it here. I am ready to update that post and will do so later this month. I have added and made a few changes to it. Having said all this you don’t need Beachbody or fancy equipment to get moving. It is what works for me but everyone is different. There are lots of fun youtube workout that you can do. One of the ladies I love is Andrea Jean Fitness. Or a simple walk or run outside will do. I walk my dogs twice a day for about 30-40 min each and I love it. However I do live in Canada and am not looking forward doing it in -35c. So my point is any type of physical movement does amazing things for your mind.

My Physical Exercise Tips

  • find something you enjoy
  • do it everyday

Meditation has become such and important part of my everyday life. I do it for about 10 minutes in the morning and 10 minutes at night. It is one of the hardest things I do. You would be surprised how hard it is not to think about anything. I also have a gratitude journal as well and reflection journal. I write in my gratitude journal in the morning and reflection at night after my meditations. For meditation I use Beachbody as well as Calm app

Tips for Meditation

  • take 10 minutes out of your day to take deep breaths and sit still

Giving my self a time out is probably the hardest thing for me. I am a very busy women. LOL. I have three youtube channels, a blog, help my husband out with business, when there is no pandemic I plan Disney Trips for others and work full time. Now obviously this is a choice and I love everything I do. But sometimes I don’t stop and go all day. Last year I actually scheduled me time in my planners and consider it as an appointment. On Sundays and Wednesday’s I have me time. I make my self a nice cup of tea or a glass of wine, run a bath with some of my favourite bath bombs. Although I haven’t been able to get any since my favourite store is in Disney World. I love doing face masks and eye masks or any type of pampering thing. I have a playlist on my iTunes with relaxing music and love defusing relaxing essential oil mixes. It takes me about an hour and it does wonders for me.

Tips for self care

  • do something relaxing that you love (bath, book really it is up to you to choose what you do)
  • make sure you schedule it in and stick to it

Self Care at Home doesn’t have to be expensive or hard to do. And what works for one person might not work for you so make sure you do you.

Hope this was helpful and inspiring
