My Miracle Morning Routine

Today I wanted to share with you My Morning Routine. This is not a cleaning or skincare routine even though it has some of it in it. This is a self care routine, a routine that makes you a stronger healthier woman and in my case a better business owner, wife and mother. We as moms always put ourselves last and I found this to be so tiring. I think we are better people if we take care of ourselves first, than we can be there fully for others when they need us. If we are all warn out and unhealthy how are we suppose to take care of others. I haven’t always been like this. This routine is fairly new to me but it had made such a difference in my life that I wanted to share with you.

Let me tell you a bit about myself. I am a mother of two teenagers, a business owner ( I run a home daycare, write two blogs and have a youtube channel). I have suffered from anxiety and weight problem. I haven’t taken any anxiety meds for last ten years or so and have learned to manage it without. I don’t get anxious often any more. I am working on my weight I have a feeling this will be my whole life.

Last year I started a gratitude journal and wrote in it sometimes. I also started to meditate last year but only did it once in a while. That has changed about four and a half moths ago when I really took a step back and had a look at my life and where it was heading. I was un happy, the weight was slowly creeping up and I was Tired. I knew I needed change and needed it to be something that I can stick to. After doing research and reading about self development and positive mindset I have created a routine for myself that I am loving now. I have seen difference in my happiness and outlook on life as well as my levels of energy have increased significantly (this might be a direct result of loosing 23lbs).

I decided to share my Morning Routine with you guys because maybe someone out there might find it inspirational and I can make a change for that one person.

Lets get right into it. I wake up at 4:30am (this might not be what works for you but I am a much better morning person). First thing I do I work out for and hour. I have joined Beach Body and love every minute of it. It has change the way I work out and I can actually see it on my body. This has never happened to me before. I also currently use the portion fix cups but just signed up for 2B Mindset Nutrition and looking forward to using that as well. I will also be starting 80 Day Obsession which is 80 days of workouts. Up until now I have done 21 Day Fix and 21 Day Fix Extreme. All of these workouts are 30 min so I would follow them up with elliptical and three times a week I run on treadmill. I have started training for 5K. It’s not pretty but I am enjoying it. If you know me you know I don’t love running and it is completely out of my comfort zone.

Once my work out is done I follow with Self Development, Morning Affirmations and Gratitude. I have searched up Affirmations on Pinterest and came up with a list of personal and business affirmations. I read these every morning. I also write in my Gratitude journal and I write anything from being grateful for my family to grass being green. These in my opinion can be as long as you want or as short as you want. I also like to record my workout and what I eat the night before in my Recollections Fitness Journal. I record my weight as well and this gives me a chance to look back and reflect on my progress. For self development I read self help books. I am currently reading Stop Apologizing as well as Simple Abundance: A Daybook of Comfort and Joy. And the book that got me on this Morning Routine was The 5 AM Club: Own Your Morning. Elevate Your Life. I typically read one or two pages out of each book in the morning. Once my reading is done I meditate for 10 min using a Calm App. This is a great app and I love that it has all the different meditation practices such as for stress, anxiety, self esteem etc.

This whole process lasts hour and a half. I don’t start my work typically until 7:30-7:45. So this leaves me plenty of time to do a load of laundry and tide up my bedroom and bathroom. I think these chores are so important to make your day and week run smoothly. It takes me 10 to 20 minutes to do this and it ensures I don’t have laundry piling up all week. And I like to make my bed every morning.

Next thing I do is take a quick shower followed by my morning skin care routine. I am planning on sharing all my skin care favourites at some point.

The last thing I do is have a good well balanced nutritious breakfast. Sometimes I think this is my healthiest meal. And off course a black strong cup of coffee. During breakfast time I like to go over my daily plan. I am currently using Erin Condren timed Life Planner as well as a bullet journal and a Dollar Tree Student planner. Each of these serve different purpose and I usually can’t function without my planners.

My Miracle Morning usually ends by 7:30 and if I am lucky I might have 15 more min of quiet time. Depending what time my first child arrives.

Working out first thing in the morning makes sure I actually do the workout every day. It is a lot harder for me to work out at the end of the day and I use to leave it till than and failed at it each time. I like to have the quiet time to reflect and read without any interruptions from the rest of the family. It truly have made a difference in my life but let me tell you it was hard. My first week of getting up so early I would fall a sleep in a car ride to grocery store in the evening while going to grab a few groceries with my husband. But slowly my body got use to it and now I wake up without the alarm. And once in a while if my body is really tired I will sleep in but usually not much pass five even on the weekends.

I hope you were able to take something from this post and let me know down in the comments if you have a routine that you love.

Until next time

Happy Reading

Sonja
