The holiday season is finally here, and I couldn’t wait to give my front porch a festive makeover! This year, I wanted to create a cozy winter wonderland filled with twinkling lights, vintage charm, and plenty of Christmas trees. Let me walk you through how I styled my porch and share some ideas you can use to bring holiday magic to your outdoor space.
Step 1: Clearing the Space
To start, I cleared everything off the porch to create a blank canvas. However, I left the wreaths on my doors since I had recently refreshed them, and they fit perfectly into this year’s theme. I also kept a few staple pieces like my rocking chair, wash basin, and vintage sled, which I knew would work well in the final look.

Step 2: Adding Pre-Lit Trees
I brought out some pre-lit trees that I purchased last year. Fluffing them was definitely my least favorite job, but it’s a necessary step to make them look their best. These trees added the perfect warm glow and served as the foundation for my porch decor.
Step 3: DIY Sign and Swag
Next, I added a festive DIY sign and a custom swag to my light fixture. These little details brought personality to the space and tied in with the rustic and cozy vibe I was aiming for. The swag was simple to make with greenery, a red ribbon, and some bells for that classic Christmas charm.
Step 4: Styling the Rocking Chair
The rocking chair came next! I styled it with a cozy blanket my mom gave me, a cute “North Pole” pillow, and a pop of red to complement the ribbon in the swag. This little corner feels so inviting and festive!
Step 5: Adding a Home Alone Doormat
This is one of my favorite holiday pieces—a “Home Alone”-themed doormat that gets a laugh out of everyone who visits. It adds a bit of playful nostalgia to the porch and fits perfectly with the whimsical vibe.
Step 6: Creating a Christmas Tree Wonderland
I added more trees to my porch this year, creating a mini Christmas tree wonderland. Fluffing and arranging them was time-consuming, but the result was worth it. The mix of snowy and slim styles brought so much character and brightness to the space.

Step 7: Styling the Vintage Sled and Wash Basin Arrangement
My vintage sled was the perfect base for some festive touches. Next to it, I created my favorite Christmas Outdoor Planter, layering birch sticks for height, droopy greenery for fullness, and red berries for pops of color. I added pinecones and curly willow for texture, then wrapped everything in warm white lights for a magical glow.

Step 8: Side Porch Styling
To finish off the space, I added a smaller arrangement to the side of the porch using leftover greenery, branches, and snowflake accents. It’s a simple but effective way to tie the whole look together.
The Final Touch: Evening Glow
The porch truly comes to life in the evening. With all the lights glowing, the trees sparkling, and the cozy accents in place, it feels like stepping into a Christmas wonderland.
Tips for Styling Your Porch:
- Start with a Blank Slate: Clear your space so you can visualize your design.
- Layer Greenery: Mix different types of greenery for texture and dimension.
- Add Lighting: Twinkling lights make any space feel magical.
- Use What You Have: Incorporate vintage or sentimental items for a personal touch.
- Create a Focal Point: Whether it’s a tree arrangement, a sled, or a sign, make sure to have a standout piece.
