Welcome back, friends! With the holidays just around the corner, I’m excited to share one of my favorite spaces to decorate each year: the kitchen! 🎄✨ This year, I wanted a cozy, nostalgic Christmas look that feels both festive and welcoming. In my latest YouTube video, I’m walking you through each step of transforming my kitchen with budget-friendly finds, handmade DIYs, and pieces from some of my go-to stores like HomeSense, Walmart, Amazon, and the dollar store.
So grab your favorite holiday drink and let’s dive into how I created a warm, festive atmosphere in the heart of the home!
Starting with a Bare Slate
One of my favorite ways to decorate is by beginning with a bare slate. There’s something so refreshing about clearing off the counters and starting from scratch. This approach helps me see the space as a blank canvas and really allows each piece of decor to shine. It’s especially fun for Christmas because I can add in all those cozy, layered details that bring a touch of holiday magic.
Creating the Perfect Christmas Island Vignette
For my island, I wanted to create a charming little vignette as the centerpiece. I started with a wood round tray from HomeSense, which gives the setup a nice, grounded look. I added a beautiful vessel, also from HomeSense, filled with Norfolk pine branches from Temu. These branches bring a natural, fresh feel that balances the warmth of the other decor pieces.
To add a bit of holiday charm, I included two bells in different sizes, a mailbox candle, and a deer figurine that I DIY-ed a few years ago. I love how these small touches add dimension and personality to the setup! To finish it off, I added a candle snuffer from Dollar Tree for that final festive detail. The vignette turned out beautifully, giving the island a cozy, elegant Christmas feel.

Styling the Countertop with Earthy Christmas Accents
Next, I moved on to the countertop, starting with the left side. I placed a pine tree from HomeSense into a pot from Dollarama to give it that earthy, curated look. Beside it, I arranged some thrifted cutting boards and a little wooden house collection from HomeSense. These add a touch of rustic charm, while also covering up some of the outlets for a cleaner look.
In a small wooden bowl, I placed some adorable faux gingerbread cookies that I picked up from a local cider shop. The cookies bring a nostalgic, homey vibe, perfect for the kitchen. I also added some vintage cookie cutters I DIY-ed, along with fresh cedar from my garden for a natural touch. To tie it all together, I tucked in a few gingerbread ornaments from Michaels and swapped in some dried orange slices I made on my DIY channel. This little area feels perfectly cozy and festive!

Festive Touches by the Stove and Mixer
To the side of my stove, I added a gingerbread spoon holder/tray for a touch of holiday whimsy. On the opposite side, next to my mixer, I always feel like something is missing, so I styled it with a vintage thrifted cutting board as the base, my diffuser, and another cutting board in the back. To complete this look, I added a Christmas tree cutting board from HomeSense and my DIY gingerbread man board. I absolutely love how these pieces look together!
Since I enjoy diffusing essential oils for that cozy holiday scent, I’m sharing a simple diffuser blend in the video that’s perfect for Christmas: 3 drops of cinnamon, 3 drops of pine, and 3 drops of orange. This blend fills the space with a warm, festive aroma without needing to light a candle – which is especially great for a busy day when I’m running my daycare.

The Christmas Coffee Station & Hot Cocoa Bar
One of my favorite spots to style each season is my coffee station, which doubles as a hot cocoa bar for a cozy holiday treat. This year, I’m going for a mix of nostalgic pieces with earthy, rustic accents to match the rest of the kitchen. I hung a festive sign from HomeSense using command hooks, which adds a cheerful touch to the setup.
To finish the coffee station, I added a heated lamp and candle for a cozy glow, my gingerbread cookie jar, a Disney countdown, and plenty of hot cocoa supplies. It’s a charming little spot that brings so much warmth to the kitchen!

As a finishing touch, I hung a wreath on the kitchen hood with a command hook and swapped out my everyday sign for a festive holiday one to complete the look. These simple additions make a big difference and really bring out that holiday cheer.
